The provision of security and safety for all the citizens of the Kingdom of Bahrain is one of the core functions of the various departments of the Ministry of the Interior, where the security strategy is based on development, flexibility and efficiency. This strategy adopts the legal standards and ethical values as well as credibility, transparency, accountability, integrity, and justice among people.

Believing in the importance of developing and evolving their services to the highest levels, the Ministry of Interior is taking its ambitious plans to prosper the recent scientific development and use of cutting-edge technology in all its programs. One of these initiatives, the launch of some of its services online at its official website www.intertior.gov.bh and the Bahrain National Portal www.bahrain.bh in order to create an easy access environment and enhance cooperation and communication between the Ministry and the citizens.

One of the recent achievements for the ministry was its Unified Criminal System, (Najam) project which was awarded to win the eGovernment Excellence Award for 2009 at the Bahrain International eGovernment Forum May 2009, which qualified the project for GCC e-Government Award held in Oman last December through which the system won the best eproject, for being one of most distinctive program with high level of innovation , that aims to save time and costs to serve large segments of the society.

This technical project that unifies the systems and applications of the Criminal Investigation Department, Ministry of the Interior, covering security duties and functions fundamental to the police force.

The project objectives extends to overcome the obstacles in the exchange of information and data that emerge on a daily basis, which gave this program a positive impact on the level of public security in the Kingdom of Bahrain and refined its image, contributing to raise the general efficiency to defeat crime and increase the capacity of security control in the public through the development of indicators of security surveillance.

In this regard, Dean Khalid Bu Ali, Assistant Undersecretary for Planning and Management at the Ministry of Interior said: "This success and progress in the field of information and communication technology is due to the continuous support from the wise leadership with an aim to achieve progress and effective contribution in this field. This level of success is also thanks to the local and specialized human resources who are working very hard to facilitate the delivery of electronic services for all people of the Kingdom of Bahrain”. He also praised the role of the eGovernment Authority for its continues efforts in cooperation with all ministries and governmental organizations to support the e-transformation of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
